6/30/14

Ace of Swords reversed/Knight of Cups reversed. The Ace of Swords (Capricorn, “I build,” ambition, caution authority, cunning, Aquarius and Pisces, “I believe,” feeling, duality, soul growth, artistic) tells of the birth of ideas and concepts. This Ace in an upright position offers the power to analyze that is necessary in order to make good choices, and in order to react correctly to events in our day.  However, my Ace is reversed, and I may have trouble making good decisions today.  Also, the reversed Sword seems to be grounded, which could mean that I am closing myself off to new ideas, attempting to stick with what I know or “own.”  The Knight of Cups (cusp of Aquarius, “I know,” friendships, the group, cause-oriented, and Pisces, “I believe,” feelings, duality, suffering, soul growth) is about feeling things strongly and without restraint or grounding.  Upright, this Knight appears calm to others, but inwardly he feels things strongly.  He is reversed today, and this might mean those strong feelings aren’t so reliable, or maybe they won’t manifest the way I want them to manifest.  These feelings that are not manifesting the way I expect them to manifest could be the problem, and it might be time to take a breath.

My Thoth cards are the Three of Disks (“Work”) reversed and the Queen of Wands reversed. The Three of Disks (Mars, action, spontaneity, aggression, drive, in Capricorn, “I build,” ambition, cunning, competence) in an upright position tells of competence, planning and teamwork.  Looks like those concepts might not work well together.  I am spending most of my day alone, doing a clean-up of the house, so hopefully this reversed Three is only talking of a lack of teamwork. The Queen of Wands (cusp of Pisces, “I believe,” feelings, duality, soul growth, spirituality, and Aries, “I want,” action oriented, assertive, competitive) in an upright position is energetic, adaptable and enthusiastic; she is filled with persistent energy and calm authority at the same time, and because of this she draws others to her.  She is kind of a self-made woman, with her sense of humor intact.  Because she is reversed, she is verifying the needed solitude being presented by the reversed Three of Disks.

My Legacy card is the King of Swords reversed, flavored by the Three of Swords.  Really??? The King of Swords (cusp of Capricorn, “I build,” ambitious, cautious, cunning, authoritative, and Aquarius, “I know,” friendships, the group, cause-oriented, aloof) in an upright position is a good judge of people and situations. He uses his intellect to analyze, so he may not be compassionate but he is trustworthy, and he can be trusted to fiercely stand by his decisions.  Looks like that won’t be me today; because my King is reversed, I need to have a care today as far as analysis related to situations in which I am perceived as an authority.  I may find that I am yielding too much, or maybe not listening to others.  My reversed King of Swords is being flavored with my least favorite card of the Tarot, and another Swords card, the Three of Swords. The Three of Swords (Saturn, discipline, responsibility, limitations and resistance, in Libra, “We are,” partnerships, balance, cooperation) usually indicates the possibility that logic, rationalizing and the intellect could end up causing harm if they are not used with balance and compassion.  This seems to be validating all my reversed cards, and oh boy, I had better think before I speak today!!

My 6-digit date number is 5, the number that tells of movement that ends stability in order to prevent stagnation.

My horoscopes: “Heightened intuition and ESP could lead to some interesting conversations with others who are blown away by your insights into their thoughts, feelings, and desires. You could also be feeling more expressive than usual, Sagittarius. You might want to channel some of that inspiration into writing, speaking, or some other form of self-expression. Reading may also prove especially valuable at this time.

And: “Give thanks to the people who are most precious to you today. You will find that words cut to the core of things much more easily today. Stabilize your strong emotions and use them as fuel for you endeavors. The key today is to remember those who have helped you along your way. Everyone is sensitive and loving individual. Treat them as such. Have fun with the people all around you

Transparent Oracle Sunday!

52, Guide: Ancestors/Dark Goddess (Below). The direction of Below is not easily associated with spirituality, yet it is a powerful symbol representing the opportunity to create a strong foundation, and to connect to the tools and powers of the Underworld.  This card is about the ancestors who came before us, but it is also about the Goddess of the Underworld, and to some, it is about Hecate, the Triple Goddess of the Crossroads. This card can be about death, but it can also be about renewal.  Our personal history, where we’ve gone and what we’ve learned, helps us to make choices in the future.  This card is telling me these things are important.

50, Polarity: White Dragon (Above). The direction of Above takes us up and out of the four traditional elements of Air, Fire, Water and Earth, and reminds us that we are but a small part of the Cosmos.  Above also reminds us that while the Machinery of the Universe is huge, it does have an effect on each of us, and each of us is an important part of the workings of that Machinery.  The White Dragon represents masculine, dispassionate, celestial energies that come into us and into our world from “Above.”  If you see the solar system and the universe as being alive, and as being filled with the manifestations of the Sacred Essences that are the source of life and awareness, then these energies are very important.  We are the Microcosm, after all, and these energies are from the polar opposite, the Macrocosm . . . filled with information, knowledge and wisdom.

2, Weather: Wind (East).   East is the direction of the rising sun, and thus of new beginnings and fresh ideas, as well as knowledge, intellectual ideas and thoughts.  Wind brings chaos and unpredictability; a stiff breeze can disrupt order, or it can clear away the cobwebs of stagnation.  What we need to remember is that we can’t control the effects of the Wind, only deal with them.  Sometimes we are rewarded for bravely accepting the effects of Wind, by receiving inspiration.

I then stacked my cards and created my mandala.  Wow, this one has a real inner-focus feel to it.  The Wind is blowing the leaves all over the place, but Ancestors/Dark Goddess is not disturbed by all the chaos.  Instead, She is looking within, oblivious to all the action, and oh, what wonders She is experiencing!

I had such a great weekend!  I started out each day with several hours at Sunset Beach.  Saturday I then got fresh bread from the Breadstand, then taught Yoga to a friend with CP.  We spent Saturday on the beach, soaking up surf and sun.  Sunday, after returning from Sunset Beach, we sat in the yard, had a nice dinner.  Back to reality on Monday!

6/27/14

Nine of Swords/Page of Pentacles. The Nine of Swords (Mars, action, spontaneity, aggression, in Gemini, “I think,” curious, talkative, social, dual) represents brooding and worrying, usually self-caused, and usually unproductive.  Often the worrying attached to this card is connected to insecurity or suspicion, or it is connected to things that are over and done with, and thus unchangeable.  This card represents the “agony of the mind,” and the poison created by this agony can kill the day.  I have the ability to control what my mind focuses on, and perhaps my Page is offering me a way to turn lemons into lemonade. The Page of Pentacles (Aries, “I want,” assertive, action oriented, Taurus, “I have,” sensual, cautious, stubborn, and Gemini, “I think,” curious, sociable, dual) is down-to-earth and responsible, and a listener and a learner. The Page of Pentacles loves to learn new things and have new experiences, but he also loves to also be a catalyst for change in the physical world, change for everyone.  My Page does this all through the outlook of a child, and while he strives to learn something new from every situation in his world, he also strives to inject a bit of fun into even the most boring or uncomfortable task.  Sounds good to me.

My Thoth cards are the Ten of Swords (“Ruin”) reversed and the Five of Swords (“Defeat”) reversed.  Well, I have those two reversed cards going for me. The Ten of Swords (the Sun, the inner core of a person or situation, in Gemini, “I think,” curious, sociable, dual, talkative) tells of the perception that interference, powerlessness and restriction will rule the day.  The traditional image on this one is of a body laying on its stomach, with ten Swords sticking up out of his back.  Talk about overkill!  The suit of Swords is about the mind and the intellect, and because my card is reversed, I should be able to drag myself out of the abyss of Ruin before it is too late. The Five of Swords (Venus, beauty, allure, relationships, pleasure, in Aquarius, “I know,” friendships, cause-oriented, the group, aloof) shows what happens when we insist that our way is right, or when we impose our needs or wants onto a situation. This card in an upright position could also be telling of what seems to be overwhelming opposition, or being made to suffer the sins of others, but like my Ten of Swords, it is reversed.  Looks like my mind will be focusing on the higher good of everyone, and I will have confidence in whatever I decide is best.

My Legacy card is the Nine of Wands (another Nine card!), being flavored by the Page of Cups reversed. The Nine of Wands (Moon, feelings and emotions, illusion, imagination, in Sagittarius, “I seek,” philosophic, fun-loving, adventurous, blundering) tells us that the final challenge approaches, and we need to ready ourselves so we can guard our assets.  This card also tells of the order and control that helps us to plan for possible challenges or hostilities to come, the way a seasoned warrior would plan.  Because both the Nine of Wands and the Nine of Swords are in my throw today, I do need to prepare for the worst but I should also remember that I might be perceiving things worse than they are.  My Nine of Wands is being flavored by the reversed Page of Cups. The Page of Cups corresponds to Libra (“we are,” partnerships, balance, cooperation), Scorpio (“I desire,” intensity compulsion, mystery) and Sagittarius (“I seek,” philosophic, adventurous, blundering) and it is a card of soft and tender energies and of getting fulfillment through connections to others, and through innocent and simple joys.  Because it is reversed, it seems to be supporting the energies of the Nine of Wands, telling me that seeing things through rose-colored glasses might have uncomfortable results.  Get real!

My 6-digit date number is 2, the number of balance, polarity, and the energy of “distance between.”

My horoscopes: “Tonight you might host a social event in your home, perhaps for business associates. You could be nervous at first, Sagittarius, wondering if all will go as well as you hope, but your efforts should produce the results you want. You might be introduced to new contacts, leading to increased opportunities. Take a walk after everyone has gone. Your mind will be churning and you'll want to clear your head.

And: “Be careful not to lose your temper today. You're champing at the bit these days, though your daring nature has been reined in by financial and professional constraints. It's useless to entertain grandiose illusions at the moment. Moreover, you can expect some confrontations if you try. If you are advised to be more conservative, heed the suggestion

6/26/14

The Wheel of Fortune/The Sun. The Wheel of Fortune (Fire (hot/separates and dry/shapes, and spontaneous, impulsive and energetic change), Jupiter (expansiveness and growth, justice, fortune), Kaph (grasping hand), and the Path between Netzach (the stimulating factors of emotion and inspiration) and Chesed (the place where forms and structure are stabilized and nurtured)) tells of sudden movement, but not movement caused by us or controlled by us.  The Wheel reminds us that nothing is permanent and everything is always in motion, motion that we can’t control.  Good times come and go, and we would not want them to remain forever.  Our job is to effectively make use of what we are given. The Sun corresponds with Fire (hot/separates and dry/shapes, spontaneous, impulsive and energetic change), our Sun (the inner core of a person or situation), Resh (the face; reason), and the Path between Yesod (the place where patterns and images emerge that may manifest in the physical world) and Hod (provides analysis and communication), and it tells of a time of enlightenment and peace that comes after the completion of some ordeal.  Even reversed, The Sun is not a bad card, just a bit less intense in its illumination.  These two cards together make me feel that I have made good use of what I have been given, and while I can’t just retire permanently, I am entitled to have some time to relax.  I still need to be aware of the ebbs and flows of energies around me though, just in case I am called once again to action.

My Thoth cards are the Six of Disks (“Success”) and the Ace of Cups reversed. Success in the physical world is what the Six of Disks refers to. The Six of Disks (Moon, feelings and emotions, illusion, imagination, in Taurus, “I have,” Sensual, cautious, stubborn) brings an awareness of resources to the situation, both those that I have and those that I don’t have, in both the upright and reversed position.  Crowley sees the Six of Disks as a card of balance, and while that balance is fertile, it is also temporary.  Also, being aware of what I don’t have is the best way to make good use of what I do have. The Ace of Cups (Libra, “We are,” partnerships, balance, cooperation, Scorpio, “I desire,” intense, deep, mysterious, obsessive, Sagittarius, “I seek,” philosophic, fun-loving, adventurous, blundering) in an upright position tells of the potential to experience deep emotions, a connection to my Inner Voice, and a connection to those around me.  My Ace of Cups is reversed, and it has been appearing for me (in a reversed position) often.  There is some emotional imbalance to be dealt with, and it looks like I had better get started.

My Legacy card is the Knight of Swords, flavored by the Eight of Wands. The Knight of Swords (the cusp of Taurus, “I have,” sensual, stubborn, cautious, and Gemini, “I think,” curious, talkative, dual, intelligent) is outspoken, assured, alert, and logical, as well as rude, domineering, critical and sarcastic.  His daring and courage are impressive, but he can also be disruptive, too.  While all of the Knights can be considered as mercenaries, the Knight of Swords truly personifies this career.  Slicing through obstacles in the name of the higher good for all will come easy for me today, but compassion and mercy might not be first on my mind.  My Knight is being flavored by the Eight of Wands. The Eight of Wands (Mercury, reason, intelligence, education, skill, communication, in Sagittarius, “I seek,” philosophic, fun-loving, adventurous, blundering) is a card of action, of quick developments, and of pulling it all together so things can be completed.  The energies of this card are fast and strong and sudden, and while the dust will surely fly, the end result should be balance.  This one is kind of a Minor Arcana version of The Wheel, and since The Wheel is my first card today, things might move quickly.  Thankfully, I do have at least one card of each suit/element, so there is hope that I will be able to ride the wave.  Kowabunga!

My 6-digit date number is 10, the completion of a cycle, which reduces further to 1, the number of position and potential.

My horoscopes: “Not only your own success but that of members of your household could have you on a real emotional high today, Sagittarius. Your mind is likely to be buzzing with possibilities for future expansion, some of which may not be all that workable. However, you should allow yourself a few flights of fancy. Tomorrow your feet will be back on the ground and you'll see things in a more practical light.

And: “Try to be persistent and don't give up the fight today. It might seem as if you are making no progress whatsoever, and that it gets harder and harder to make a decision about anything. This is no reason to give up. You will find that in truth, other people are just as confused as you are. Find a clever way to verbally express what you feel. You can sort the issues out with the help of others as long as you are in touch with your own inner state.

6/25/14

Four of Wands/Queen of Cups. The Four of Wands (Venus, beauty, allure, relationships, in Aries, “I want,” action oriented, assertive, enthusiastic) is about building enough to become established, about the results of harmony and effort and creativity combined.  This card tells me that today, the anticipation of the Three of Wands has begun to manifest, and I might want to pause and soak it all in, just to ground that manifestation in the physical world. The Queen of Cups (cusp of Gemini, “I think,” curious, sociable, dual, and Cancer, “I feel,” sensitive, tenacious, nurturing, moody) represents the energies of Water and The High Priestess manifested into the Minor Arcana.  She is comfortable with her own feelings (whatever they are), and she nurtures and encourages the dreams of others, too.  My Queen is showing me how I should perceive the manifestation presented by the Four of Wands: through love, compassion, and the instructions of my Inner Voice.

My Thoth cards are the Prince of Cups reversed and the Five of Cups (“Disappointment”) reversed. The Prince/Knight of Cups (cusp of Aquarius, “I know,” friendships, the group, cause-oriented, and Pisces, “I believe,” feelings, duality, suffering, soul growth) is about feeling things strongly and without restraint or grounding.  Upright, this Prince appears calm to others, but inwardly he feels things strongly.  He is reversed today (unlike my other Court Cups card, the Queen of Cups), and he is supporting the moderation of his Queen because he is reversed. The Five of Cups (Mars, action, aggression, drive, in Scorpio, “I desire,” intense, controlling, mysterious, obsessive) in an upright position tells of an emotional setback or disappointment, or perhaps the belief that a wrong choice has been made. The Five of Cups warns us that we are focusing too much on difficult emotions, but today those difficulties won’t control me.  More validation of that lovely Queen of Cups, who more and more is looking like the pivotal card today.

My Legacy card is the Two of Wands, flavored by the Eight of Swords reversed. The Two of Wands (Mars, action, spontaneity, aggression, drive, in Aries, “I want,” action oriented, pioneering, assertive, enthusiastic) tells of power, influence and authority, and the implementation of the Will.  This is personal power and making a statement of ownership, both of which will help me make choices today.  My Two of Wands is being flavored by the Eight of Swords reversed. The Eight of Swords (Jupiter, expansiveness and growth, justice, fortune, in Gemini, “I think,” curious, sociable talkative, dual) in an upright position tells of a confused and restrictive response to obstacles, or maybe perceived obstacles.  Because it is reversed, my Eight of Swords is actually supporting my Two of Wands.  Thankfully that Queen of Cups is also strong today, because she will moderate the Two, and the Two will encourage her to manifest her personality for the benefit of all.

My 6-digit date number is 9, the number that tells of the completeness of manifestation or effect.

My horoscopes: “You should find that the general mood of the day is favorable to your personality style, Sagittarius. Take this opportunity to present more of your thoughts and ideas to the world. Let your voice be heard. Use it with strength and vigor. You have partners and friends who are eager to hear what's on your mind. Engage in verbal sparring. You'll find that you can learn a great deal about yourself and others.

And: “You are likely to find people somewhat irritating today. It's as though nothing is good enough, and nobody seems to know exactly what he or she wants. You will reign supreme within this maze of overt conflict and dissatisfaction. You may be even asked to step in and restore order. If the conflict is on the domestic front, go ahead. But tread carefully if you're asked to take on the role of sheriff!

6/24/14

The Emperor/Death reversed.  The Emperor corresponds with Fire (hot/separates and dry/shapes, and spontaneous, impulsive, energetic change), Aries (“I want,” action oriented, assertive, competitive) and the Hebrew letter Heh (window, illumination), and represents confidence, authority, and the archetype of the Father.  The Emperor of the Tarot instills balance, form and structure onto the fertility and creations of The Empress; he rules over the concrete and corporeal world and is the manifestation of spirit.  He is reminding me that I should have confidence in myself as I work within my chosen venues.  I do have the ability to be of value.  The Death card of the Major Arcana corresponds with Water (cold/binds and wet/adapts, and sensitive, imaginative energy that strives to stay the same or take the same course), Scorpio, Nun (fish head; liberation), and the Path between Tiphareth (the hub of the creation process where energies harmonize and focus to illuminate and clarify) and Netzach (the stimulating factors of emotion and inspiration), and upright it tells of natural change that cannot be stopped, and that usually involves the potential to step upward on the evolutionary ladder. Many people fear this card, but Death can be seen as representing natural change through alchemic putrefaction.  My Death card is reversed, and it may seem to me that something is ending that I still value.  This choice to stay as we are is taken from us eventually, and if we fight the change too hard, we end up dealing with a violent adjustment.  I can pause for a moment, but then I had best allow my Emperor to guide me forward.  The Death card is the number 13, which reduces to the number 4, The Emperor.  How is that for a connection?!

My Thoth cards are The Moon and the Ace of Cups reversed.  The Moon of the Tarot Major Arcana corresponds with Water (cold/binds and wet/adapts, emotional and sensitive energy that strives to stay the same), Pisces (“I believe,” feeling, suffering, soul growth, duality), Qof (the back of the head), and the Path between Malkuth (the physical world of action and physical, outer reality) and Netzach (the stimulating factors of emotion and inspiration), is about feelings and emotions and instincts and the subconscious.  The discomforts presented by this card can make us afraid, but most of the time there is nothing to fear at all.  This card may tell of illusions and the Dark Night of Soul, but it reminds me that as a Witch, I have magick on my side, and I know how to deal with mystery. My Ace of Cups is reversed, and I had better look to my heart chakra, for there might be a blockage there.  Both of these cards are connected to the element of Water, and that Water is spilling out of my reversed Ace.  Hmm . . .

My Legacy card is the Ten of Swords, flavored by the Nine of Cups.  Opposites for my Legacy cards. The suit of Swords is about the mind and the intellect, and the though process might be really breaking down today.  My Ten of Swords is being flavored by the “wish card,” the Nine of Cups.  The Nine of Cups (Jupiter, expansiveness and growth, justice, fortune, in Pisces, “I believe,” feelings, duality, suffering, soul growth) is about emotional satisfaction and the ability to find pleasure in feelings and emotions, and in our expectations for the day.  This card is about fulfillment and good times, and perhaps getting what we wished for.  I’m wondering (and hoping!) that I am being offered a choice here, and if I can prevent the “analysis paralysis” of the Ten of Swords, I will end up with the Nine of Cups.  How is that for incentive?!

My 6-digit date number is 8, the number that tells of the conscious and deliberate response to the pause and approach of degeneration of the number 7, in order to maintain for a bit longer the harmony and balance of the number 6.

My horoscopes: “Try not to be too fixed in your attitude today, Sagittarius. Realize that you may have to give a little in order to work comfortably with the people around you. It's important that you be slow and reserved in your moves, especially in matters of the heart. Be open and receptive. Try not to scare anyone away with abrasive words or insisting that you're always right.

And: “The topic of the day is knowledge and learning. Did you study the field you dreamed of? Do you feel ashamed of not having attended such-and-such a school or program? If those sorts of issues are uppermost on your mind, remember that your creativity has little to do with the degrees you hold and everything to do with how you use your skills and knowledge to better the world.

6/22/14

Transparent Oracle Sunday!

8, Guide: Eagle (East). East is the direction of the rising sun, and thus of new beginnings and fresh ideas, as well as knowledge, intellectual ideas and thoughts.  Eagle is considered the King of Birds, and often is seen as a Divine Messenger because he can fly to such amazing heights.  He tells of being able to see into the distance, and of achievements (and associated honors) gotten through courage and focus.  When Eagle is around, courage and perspective and vision will bring great results.

33, Element: Earth (North). North is the direction of Earth, and thus of the physical or physically formed or manifested world, and of nurturing, health, finances and security, and the wisdom associated with living simply, being well-grounded, and being in touch with our physical body.  Earth is the element of form and substance; it is connected to physical health, to material world security (and even wealth), and to our physical bodies and physical senses, and the pleasures and pains they bring.  Earth represents the fertile, nurturing and serene side of Nature, and it represents the tangible end result of our labors.

25, Landscape: Ocean (West). West is the direction of Water, and thus, of feelings and emotions, relationships of all kinds, cleansing and healing, the wisdom associated with natural endings, and the bubbling up of pure joy.  Oceans are huge and magnificent; they are considered the cradle of life.  They can be calm as glass, but beneath that smooth flat surface lurk powerful predators.  They can be rough and deadly, yet if we travel down a short distance, all is quiet and silent.  The Ocean card is about death and life, about destruction and creation; and amidst the chaos, healing and purification.

I then stacked my cards and created my mandala.  Eagle and Earth are laced together here, surrounded by Water.  I am being reminded by this mandala that perspective is very important today, especially regarding the results of my efforts over the past few days.  Those efforts could be connected to the Earth (and they have been; I’ve been working in my beloved garden!).  Emotions may not be a direct part of this effort, but they are there, supporting me, protecting me, and surrounding me.  Water has been on my mind today as well in a literal sense, because the weather has been sunny and dry.  I’ve been watering my flowers each day this weekend, and Water is indeed the cradle of life.

The flowers are beautiful, the grass is green, and another robin has built a nest in our wisteria.  I was trimming the wisteria, and suddenly she flew out of where I was working, and sat in a nearby tree and yelled at me.  I looked carefully, and sure enough, there was the nest!  I am hoping her babies survive; last year’s nest was attacked by a crow.  She is in a different spot this year, and I am keeping my fingers crossed.  I can’t wait to hear those little baby birds calling out to their mom when she brings them dinner.

6/20/14

The Lovers/The Wheel of Fortune reversed.  The Lovers (Air, hot/separates and wet/adapts, quick and animated, intellectual, problems or challenges; Gemini, “I think,” curious, talkative, sociable, dual; Zayin, double-edged sword; and the Path between Tiphareth, the hub of the creation process where energies harmonize and focus to illuminate and clarify, and Binah, female receptive energy and the origin of form and structure) tells of duality, union, and personal choices.  This card is about love, but it is also about our personal values and how they affect our choices, and the promises we make to others.  The Lovers present the two halves that when united are greater than the sum of their parts, and today I need to remember that uniting my choice with my actions will have consequences.  I need to keep those consequences positive.  The Wheel of Fortune (Fire (hot/separates and dry/shapes, and spontaneous, impulsive and energetic change), Jupiter (expansiveness and growth, justice, fortune), Kaph (grasping hand), and the Path between Netzach (the stimulating factors of emotion and inspiration) and Chesed (the place where forms and structure are stabilized and nurtured)) in an upright position tells of sudden movement, but not movement caused by us or controlled by us.  The Wheel reminds us that nothing is permanent and everything is always in motion, motion that we can’t control.  My Wheel is reversed today, and it is strongly reinforcing the concept that I have an effect on my environment. Pay attention and chose wisely.

My Thoth cards are the Nine of Swords (“Cruelty”) and the Six of Wands (“Victory”) reversed.  Ouch. However, I can control what my mind focuses on, and it looks like I had better.  The Six of Wands (Jupiter, expansiveness and growth, justice, fortune, in Leo, “I am,” passionate, dramatic, noble, authoritative) in an upright position expresses the celebration we feel when we have passed some test or successfully met a challenge. Since my card is reversed, the results may not be clear or conclusive, but the card did show up so if I can try and find a bit more confidence in my chosen decisions, I might be able to turn that Six of Wands upright.

My Legacy card is the Seven of Coins, flavored by the Ten of Cups.  That’s better!  The Seven of Coins (Saturn, discipline, responsibility, law and order, in Taurus, “I have,” sensual, cautious, stubborn) tells of pauses and choices and assessments within the physical world.  Evaluation of my efforts thus far is in order, and perhaps I will find pleasure in that evaluation.  My Seven of Coins is being flavored by a nice card, the Ten of Cups.  The Ten of Cups (Mars, action, spontaneity, aggression, drive, in Pisces, “I believe,” feeling, duality, spirituality, suffering and growth) offers the manifestation of happiness, simple joys, and fulfillment. The number Ten is about the completion of a cycle or manifestation, and the suit of Cups is about emotions, feelings and the inner self, so this card offers the bounty that comes with the successful experiencing of all the lessons of the Cups cards.

My 6-digit date number is 4, the number of depth and stability.

My horoscopes: “Scientists are sometimes pretty strange. They can be so engrossed in reality that they seem almost absent from it, as if they float above the Earth. That's a bit how you feel about things, too, Sagittarius. You like to explain the world in your own special way, the way you see it and not necessarily the way it really is. That's your secret. You know that no one else can see the world the way you do.

And: “Don't let your fear or anger overtake you today. You are going to be pushed very strongly to the forefront and you may even be forced to make some big decisions regarding the direction your professional life is going. You may have been feeling that it is a little premature to take action, but frankly, you no longer have any choice. Whether you know it or not, you are ready!

Three of Swords reversed (whew!)/Justice reversed.  The Three of Swords (Saturn, discipline, responsibility, limitations and resistance, in Libra, “We are,” partnerships, balance, cooperation), my least favorite card in the entire deck, when upright usually indicates the possibility that logic, rationalizing and the intellect could end up causing harm if they are not used with balance and compassion.  I’m glad this card is reversed, for it tells me that the harm might not be as bad as it appears on the surface.  Even so, it may take some time to heal.  Justice is a card of adjustment, and it corresponds with the element of Air (hot/separates and wet/adapts, and quick, animated energy that usually brings problems or challenges that bring growth), Libra (“we are,” partnerships, balance, cooperation), Lamed (ox goad; training or teaching), and the Path between Tiphareth (the hub of the creation process where energies harmonize and focus to illuminate and clarify) and Geburah (the place where forms and structures are challenged or affirmed).  This card has a sword in its image as well, and it presents two important concepts: balance and truth.  Justice reminds us that the purpose of the law is to implement and manifest these two concepts.  Because my Justice card is reversed, balance and truth may be hidden today.  Also, the one who metes out Justice is a person of authority, and I don’t think that should be me.  I’m wondering if these two reversed cards are telling me that truth is important today, even if the truth hurts.  Knowing the truth, even a painful truth, allows the return to balance to begin.

My Thoth cards are the Ten of Wands (“Oppression”) and the Prince of Cups reversed.  The Ten of Wands (Saturn, discipline, responsibility, limitations and resistance, in Sagittarius, “I seek,” philosophic, fun-loving, blundering) tells of being taxed to some perceived limit, or of feeling as if we are out of gas at the bottom of a hill.  This card can also tell of a passion that has taken a life of its own and gotten out of control. Time to return to the Ace! He is reversed today, and this might mean those strong feelings aren’t so reliable, or maybe they won’t manifest the way I want them to manifest.  These feelings that are not manifesting the way I expect them to manifest could be the problem, and it might be time to take a breath.

My Legacy card is the Eight of Cups reversed, flavored by the Five of Cups reversed.  The Eight of Cups (Saturn, discipline, responsibility, limitation, law and order, in Pisces, “I believe,” feeling, duality, suffering, soul growth) in an upright position tells of an ending or a decline or a change of direction, often one associated with emotions, and it offers one possible response to that decline or change: moving on.  My card is reversed and I need to remember this phrase from the LWB of the Llewellyn Welsh Tarot regarding the reversed Eight of Cups: “A timid nature attracts predators.”  Also, clinging to something that has expired is also not healthy.  My reversed Eight of Cups is being flavored by another reversed Cups card, the reversed Five of Cups.  The Five of Cups (Mars, action, aggression, drive, in Scorpio, “I desire,” intense, controlling, mysterious, obsessive) in an upright position tells of an emotional setback or disappointment, or perhaps the belief that a wrong choice has been made.  Both of these cards in an upright position bring a message of turning our back on something, the Eight of Cups asks us to walk away from difficult emotions and the Five of Cups warns us that we are focusing too much on those difficult emotions.  Both are reversed; looks like it is also time to release those difficult emotions and focus on some good stuff.

My 6-digit date number is 3, the number that tells of a new creation out of the potential and position of the Ace, and the balance, polarity, and energy of “distance between” of the 2.

My horoscopes: “A lot of people around you might think that you are a strong individual, Sagittarius. For example, you stand up against wrongs in the established social order. You can also be a very constructive person. You try to improve the world around you. Today, Sagittarius, you'll have all the time you like to meditate about the changes this world needs.”

And: “Today, abandon any intellectual pursuits and concentrate on practical problems related to the organization and goal setting. You are likely to find perfect solutions within an hour after you start. The heavens are helping you. Give them some credit for your ingenuity, and waste no time implementing your plans!”

6/18/14

Judgement/Ace of Cups reversed.  Judgement corresponds with Fire (hot/separates and dry/shapes, and spontaneous, impulsive and energetic change), Pluto (power, metamorphosis, cycles of dying and becoming), Shin (fang), and the Path between Malkuth (the physical world of action and physical, outer reality) and Hod (provides analysis and communication) and represents an opportunity to tally up and pay the bill so we can have a fresh start.  Judgement is about that final step which will allow me to release the past and move forward.  Oswald Wirth describes Judgement this way: “Judgement intervenes for the purpose of distinguishing the spiritual from the material, the deep significance from the expressive form, the living word from the dead letter.” In order to pay the bill we must determine value, both the value of the things being paid for and the coin being used to pay.  Determining value is important for me today, particularly because I will be asked to pay my proportionate share in order to access that which I value. My Ace of Cups is reversed, and it is telling me to remember that sometimes emotions and feelings cloud the issue.  Looks like I will need to keep emotions out of the picture today.

My Thoth cards are the Eight of Swords (“Interference”) and the Seven of Wands (“Valor”) reversed. The Eight of Swords (Jupiter, expansiveness and growth, justice, fortune, in Gemini, “I think,” curious, sociable talkative, dual) tells of a confused and restrictive response to obstacles, or maybe perceived obstacles.  I may feel today that I can’t get things done because everyone else seems to be preventing me from being effective.  The Seven of Wands (Mars, action, spontaneity, aggression, drive, in Leo, “I am,” passionate, dramatic, natural leader, egotistical, selfish) reminds me that my own judgment is worth relying on, so I should have confidence in that judgment.  This card also reminds me to choose my projects carefully, and then stand by them until the end.  The Legacy Seven of Wands has a personal message to me whether upright or reversed: a test is coming.  Because my card is reversed, it looks like self-confidence might be the root cause of any hesitation today.  Makes sense to me.

My Legacy card is the Six of Swords reversed, flavored by The Moon. The Six of Swords (Mercury, reason, intelligence, education, communication, in Aquarius, “I know,” friendships, the group, cause oriented) in an upright position is about balance, healing, moving towards a better place, and even about learning the science behind things that work (because understanding why they work makes them more effective).  I love this card because upright it is how I learn and grow; because my Six of Swords is reversed today, I might be distracted from those scientific explanations for how and why things work (or maybe those scientific explanations won’t sit well with me). My reversed Six of Swords is being flavored by The Moon. This card may tell of falsehood and illusion and the Dark Night of Soul, but it also tells of magick and mystery.  It makes sense to me, because in the end the message of the other cards today are warning me that I might not be seeing things as they actually are, and with Judgement at the beginning of this spread, seeing things as they actually are just might be the key for surviving the day.

My 6-digit date number is 2, the number that tells of balance, polarity, and the energy of “distance between.”

My horoscopes: “A lot of serious matters are on your mind, perhaps involving plans for the future. It's likely that you'll want to stay home today and do some contemplating. Various new opportunities could be coming your way, Sagittarius, and you won't want to let them pass you by without serious consideration. Chores around the house could prove a valuable outlet for physical energy while allowing thoughts to churn in your mind.

And: “Have you felt somewhat lost for the past few days? Today, the fog may lift, enabling you to situate yourself at last. You are probably eager to settle a question that has been nagging at you and interfering with your judgment. However, especially if it has to do with emotional matters, you should be patient. Try to understand, but don't take action immediately. You'll be more objective beginning tomorrow.
