The Sun/Four of Cups.  The Sun corresponds with Fire (hot/separates and dry/shapes, spontaneous, impulsive and energetic change), our Sun (the inner core of a person or situation), Resh (the face; reason), and the Path between Yesod (the place where patterns and images emerge that may manifest in the physical world) and Hod (provides analysis and communication) tells of a time of enlightenment and peace, usually after the completion of some ordeal, “completion” being the key word. The Four of Cups (the Moon, feelings and emotions, illusion, imagination, in Cancer, “I feel,” sensitive, nurturing, tenacious, moody) tells us that too much pleasure deadens the senses.  Sometimes this deadening of the senses (which allows inner vision and self-absorption) is necessary, at least for a little while.  Perhaps that is the reason for this time of peace represented by The Sun.

My Thoth card is the Eight of Disks reversed.  Crowley’s keyword for this one is “Prudence.” The Eight of Disks (Sun, the inner core of a person or situation, in Virgo, “I serve,” practical, analytical, sensible, orderly) is about taking care of details, working hard, and studying or learning new things, all with an eye on the end result. The details are not important today, and it looks like I might need to stay away from tried-and-true methods as well.

My Legacy card is the Six of Swords reversed, flavored by the Three of Cups reversed. The Six of Swords (Mercury, reason, intelligence, education, communication, in Aquarius, “I know,” friendships, the group, cause oriented) is about balance, healing, moving towards a better place, and even about learning the science behind things that work (because understanding why they work makes them more effective).  My Six of Swords is reversed, but the card is there, so the energies are there; all I have to do is figure out how to connect with them. The Three of Cups (Mercury, reason, intelligence, orderliness, communication, in Cancer, “I feel,” sensitive, tenacious, nurturing, moody) in an upright position is about connections, emotional abundance, and about blessings.  This card is a “quality not quantity” kind of thing, and while it is reversed, it is also present in the reading. I like these two cards even though they are reversed; good potential.

My 6-digit date number is 6, the number of vertical and horizontal balance.

My horoscopes: “Create your own reality, Sagittarius. It could be that you have the puppet strings in your hands, but you're too afraid to use them. Don't shy away from responsibility. Take your time and don't lose sight of your goals. The stakes are extra high today, and you will find that the slightest movement is magnified several times over. Be careful how you use your words. They won't be taken lightly.

And: “Remember that you are put on this Earth to have fun, and that happiness is your true destiny. Keep this in mind today, as forces may tend to pull you off track from the fun you've been having. There is likely to be a sobering tone to the day that is stubbornly working to rain on your parade. Recognize the need for structure and stability, but don't let it bring you down.

My Shadowscapes Insight is regarding the Queen of Pentacles.  This Queen is one embodiment of the Sacred Feminine within the Minor Arcana.  She nurtures and guides and cares for everyone around her, and gets fulfillment by creating the kind of environment where everyone can be at ease.  She is willing to share these abilities with any who ask to learn, in order to nurture the world.

Back to “The Beginner’s Guide To Constructing The Universe.”  Today is a fitting day to think about the number 1.  In the Tarot, the number 1 represents position, potential and possibility.  It is not about manifestation; rather, it is more about the idea of manifestation, or the intention to manifest.  Lots of power there.  The concept of “position” brings us to the point (which, since it does not have length, width, height or depts., is only a representation of something that cannot be drawn or created in the physical world).  The shape that corresponds with the number 1 is the circle, and the smallest version of the circle is that point.

The circle represents wholeness, unity, perfection, and the concept of “self” and its individuality and separateness from the world.  The cool thing about circles is that every circle, no matter how small or big, is the same.  We can each draw a rectangle and end up with a different drawing, but if we each draw a circle with a compass and a pencil, we will each draw a different size of the same identical shape.

Our circle begins as a point, as stated above, and grows because its energies expand outward, equally in all directions, to eventually encompass all; this is an awesome symbol of the Universe!  This means that the point is the essence of the circle, of every circle; it is the starting point needed to draw a larger circle and it is the power that motivates.  A really cool example of this expansion can be found in the ripples that happen when we drop a stone into still water.  The circles created here begin small and grow and move outward.  However, it is not the water that is moving outward, but rather the energy moving outward; the water only allows us to see that energy.  If something else is floating in the water, near where we drop our stone, that floating object will bounce up and down as the ripples flow past it, but it won’t be pushed outward by those ripples as they expand away from the center of the circle.

That is Nature!  Nature delights in these cycles of expansion and contraction; these cycles are found everywhere, in both the microcosm ~and~ the macrocosm.
