Judgement/The
Hermit reversed. Judgement corresponds with Fire
(hot/separates and dry/shapes, and spontaneous, impulsive and energetic change), Pluto (power,
metamorphosis, cycles of dying and becoming), Shin (fang), and the Path between
Malkuth (the physical world of action and physical, outer reality) and Hod
(provides analysis and communication) and in an upright position represents an
opportunity to tally up and pay the bill so we can have a fresh start. Judgement is about that final step
which will allow me to release the past and move forward. Oswald Wirth describes Judgement this
way: “Judgement intervenes for the purpose of distinguishing the spiritual from
the material, the deep significance from the expressive form, the living word
from the dead letter.” In order to pay the bill we must determine value, both
the value of the things being paid for and the coin being used to pay. This is the first concept I am to apply
to the events of this day. The Hermit corresponds with Earth (cold/binds and
dry/shapes, and material, practical and stable energy that is slow to change),
as well as Virgo (“I serve,” practical, analytical, work and service oriented,
orderly), Yod (open hand, touch), and the Path between Tiphareth (the hub of
the creation process where energies harmonize and focus to illuminate and
clarify) and Chesed (the place where forms and structure are stabilized and
nurtured), and is about searching within for a deeper meaning, often through
solitude bordering on discomfort.
The presence of the energies of The Hermit reminds me that in order to
release the past and achieve something of value, the work must be done
internally, usually involving solitude to the point of discomfort, and with an
outward mantle of “business as usual.”
My
Thoth cards are the Queen of Disks reversed and the Four of Cups (“Luxury”). The Queen of Disks (cusp of Sagittarius,
“I seek,” philosophic, fun-loving, blundering, and Capricorn, “I build,”
ambition, caution, cunning, authoritative) is very good at sustaining the
physical world, keeping things dry and cozy and safe and orderly. Crowley sees this Queen in an upright
position as striving to manifest pleasurable surroundings without going
overboard, because she is reversed, there may be some imbalance. Maybe the sparkle may have gone out of
my tasks, or maybe I will be distracted from what needs to be done, or maybe I
will look at those who need my nurturing without really seeing them and their
need. The Four of Cups (the
Moon, feelings and emotions, illusion, imagination, in Cancer, “I feel,”
sensitive, nurturing, tenacious, moody) in an upright position reminds us that
too much pleasure, or maybe too much nurturing or overprotectiveness, deadens
the senses. This is a card that describes what can happen when nothing goes
wrong in our lives, and since my Four of Cups is reversed, I should remember that
I can’t allow any discomfort which presents itself to distract me from the
importance of my Purpose. That
might be the most important message of this day.
My
Legacy card is the Knight of Swords, flavored by the Ten of Cups. The Knight of Swords (the cusp of Taurus, “I have,”
sensual, stubborn, cautious, and Gemini, “I think,” curious, talkative, dual,
intelligent) is outspoken, assured, alert, and logical, as well as rude,
domineering, critical and sarcastic. His daring and courage are impressive, but he can also be
disruptive, too. While all of the
Knights can be considered as mercenaries, the Knight of Swords truly
personifies this career. Problem
solving will come easy for me today, and I will be able to slice through
obstacles in the name of the higher good for all. My Knight of Swords, a very analytical card, is being
balanced nicely by a very emotional card, the Ten of Cups. The Ten of Cups
(Mars, action, spontaneity, aggression, drive, in Pisces, “I believe,” feeling,
duality, spirituality, suffering and growth) offers the manifestation of
happiness, simple joys, and fulfillment. The number Ten is about the completion
of a cycle or manifestation, and the suit of Cups is about emotions, feelings
and the inner self, so this card offers the bounty that comes with the
successful experiencing of all the lessons of the Cups cards. These lessons are most important to the
Knight of Swords, for he is focused on completing his task, and often he
neglects to take into consideration emotions and feelings. Today, however, they will be in play
equal to the power of analysis and the workings of the intellect. Balance!
My
6-digit date number is 8, the number that tells of the conscious and deliberate
response to the pause and approach of degeneration of the number 7, in order to
maintain for a bit longer the harmony and balance of the number 6.
My
horoscopes: “Oppressive stress on you or those close to you could cause
disconcerting upsets within your relationships today, Sagittarius. Try to be
objective and work things out rationally instead of going to pieces. Avoid
being sucked into quarrels where you might say things you'll regret. Don't let
this temporary situation get the best of you. Make the effort to stay focused
and relaxed. Tomorrow all should be back to normal.”
And: “As
you get older you are drawn more and more to spiritual matters. It is not so
much that you are embracing any particular religion, but more that you are
quite curious about the supernatural and some of the ancient arts. Take some
time today to visit the library or bookstore to do some reading up on the subject.
You might want to form a study group with other, like-minded individuals.”
