September 24, 2016: Wood and air meridians compared

September 24, 2016:

My Dreams of Gaia card for today is the King of Air, again.  The King of Air represents a fair yet stern leader who is educated, with vast knowledge at his disposal and wisdom learned from his every-day experiences.  He is imposing and a bit intimidating because he is formal, but because of his deep spiritual beliefs, he is also compassionate.  The King of Air believes that rules are made to be followed and he is not easily corrupted or lured into unethical behavior.  While he can be a bit rigid, his final judgment is fair and is delivered without the distraction of any emotions.  I am being reminded today that I should not allow myself to be drawn into unnecessary arguments.  I need to adhere to the rules, and to my own ethical code, without pushing boundaries, and I need to attempt to keep emotions out of the events and decisions of the day.  I would be better off asking for expert advice instead.

Maybe today would be a good day to compare the two Wood/Air meridians.  Both meridians are connected to expansion, wind, deciding, and the season of Spring.  Both meridians are connected to anger, however the liver meridian is more about internal anger, while the gall bladder meridian is more about outer anger, and adds in the influence of compassion.  The liver meridian connects more to planning, processing and organizational parts of the process of deciding, while the gall bladder meridian focuses more on motivation or catalyst.

September 20, 2016: Balance and the Spring meridians

September 20, 2016:

Hmmmm . . . lots of balancing messages lately.  My Dreams of Gaia card today is another Earth card, the Two of Earth.  The keywords for this card are equilibrium, flexibility, adaptability, balance, harmony, compromise, confidence, procrastination and freedom.  This card reminds us of the importance of balancing our personal responsibilities regarding work, home, family, and pleasure, while remaining flexible so we can adapt to the circumstances of the day and meet our responsibilities.  I am being told that I have the skills and the knowledge in order to do this and I should trust myself.  And if I get a message stating that I need some assistance, that is not a bad thing at all.  Asking for help is a good way to get things done.

Today might be a good day to look at the meridians associated with the direction of East and the season of Spring.  Within Yin Yoga, there are five elements each with their own correspondences.  The element that corresponds with Spring, and thus with Air, is Wood.  The Yin organ connected with Wood is the liver and the Yang organ is the gall bladder; each organ has a meridian associated with it.

The liver meridian is about anger (especially internal anger), expansion, wind, planning or deciding, birth and early growth, processing and organization.  In Yin Yoga, the liver is considered the second heart, the seat of the soul that holds experiences, wisdom, and the ability to process them.  The liver creates the bile that is a part of the digestive system, it stores nutrients and energy for physical activities, and it analyzes its functions and detoxifies those energies and nutrients in order to maintain physical well-being.  It also assists the immune system.

The liver meridian begins at the big toe and travels up the inside of the leg to the pubic bone, where it enters the torso, circles the sexual organs, then travels to the liver, gall bladder, and lungs, then circles the mouth, spit to pass each eye, then join back together and move to the top of the head.

An imbalance in this meridian could offer symptoms such as urination issues, incontinence, allergies, dizziness, moodiness, vomiting, a hernia, or high blood pressure.
