12/17/14

Six of Wands reversed/Five of Cups.  The Six of Wands (Jupiter, expansiveness and growth, justice, fortune, in Leo, “I am,” passionate, dramatic, noble, authoritative) in an upright position expresses the celebration we feel when we have passed some test or successfully met a challenge.  Yes, this card is about the sense of accomplishment and the recognition that happen when we stick to our own plan despite adversity, but it is reversed today.  Looks like I need to remember that any victories I achieve today may not be of the long-lasting variety.  I need to be careful that there is not undermining of my plan going on, and I need to remember that recognition is not the be-all and end-all of Purpose. The Five of Cups (Mars, action, aggression, drive, in Scorpio, “I desire,” intense, controlling, mysterious, obsessive) tells of an emotional setback or disappointment, or perhaps the belief that a wrong choice has been made; this card also warns us that we are focusing too much on difficult emotions. Feelings and emotions can be powerful tools, and what I feel can end up manifesting into the physical world.  I need to remember not to obsess about uncomfortable emotions today, because that just might be my natural tendency.

My Thoth cards are the Princess of Cups reversed and the Seven of Cups (“Debauch”) reversed.  The Princess/Page of Cups corresponds to Libra (“we are,” partnerships, balance, cooperation), Scorpio (“I desire,” intensity compulsion, mystery) and Sagittarius (“I seek,” philosophic, adventurous, blundering) and is a card of soft and tender energies and of getting fulfillment through connections to others, and through innocent and simple joys.  Crowley sees this card as representing a more immature version of the Queen of Cups, and that means she might be seeing the world through rose-colored glasses.  She is Earth of Water, and thus all about feelings and sensations, particularly pleasant feelings and sensations. That kind of optimism and belief that everyone has good intentions might be nice, but since my card is reversed, it could lead to discomfort or disaster.  The lack of maturity in emotional matters could tend to bring deception or selfishness.  I don’t want to shut down my emotions entirely; I just want to be sure they are appropriate reactions to the events of the day.  The Seven of Cups (Venus, beauty, allure, relationships, in Scorpio, “I desire,” intense, controlling, obsessive, mysterious) represents the distraction, sensory overload and dissipation that can happen when we are presented with too many enticing choices.  Crowley sees this one as being drunk on pleasure, so drunk that we are not able to focus enough to make sensible choices.  Another pair with a clear message; these two together are hinting at emotional excess.  A bit of grounding?  Or maybe some cleansing Fire?

My Legacy card is the Four of Coins reversed, flavored by The Hanging Man.  The Four of Coins (the Sun, the inner core of a person or situation or the deepest self, in Capricorn, “I build,” ambition, authority, caution cunning) tells of very solid foundations and an awareness of the value of our possessions.  This card tells of a resistance to change, as well as a need for predictability.  Yep, could be the definition of “prudence,” but sometimes being careful is not the answer.  Sometimes we need to risk it all, or allow change to happen even if on the surface it appears to be costly.  My reversed Four of Coins is being flavored by The Hanging Man, who has been showing up lately, upright and reversed.  The Hanging Man corresponds with Water (cold/binds and wet/adapts, and emotional, sensitive and imaginative energy that tends to move deep, and attempts to take the same path as in the past), Neptune (inspiration, spirituality, magick, enchantment, dreams, altered states), and the Hebrew letter Mem (water, stability and balance, the reflective quality of thought), and presents the kind of balance that comes to us through surrender, and through deliberately attempting to see things in a different way.  This card tells of initiation and destiny, as well as sacrifice and loss, but the interesting thing here is that in many situations, the face of the Hanging Man is not distorted by pain or suffering, as we would expect.  Instead he is serene, as if he was experiencing a quiet epiphany.  The Legacy card has a “wait and see” feel about it, a recommendation that we wait for a bit because the energies flowing around us are on the verge of changing.  The key to The Hanging Man’s evolution is his ability to see without expectations, and without including the input of his body or his physical world into the issue at hand, and that could be the flavor my Hanging Man offers to that Four of Coins reversed.  Owning an issue or a thing with obsession can cause stagnation, and we all know where stagnation brings us.

My 6-digit date number is 7, the number that tells of the pause that occurs as growth slows and degeneration approaches, usually requiring a choice of some kind.

My horoscopes: “Taking care of the body isn't hedonistic or trivial, Archer. After all, it's your soul's address! Today, with a powerful trine between the empathic Moon and sensitive Neptune, tuning in to your physical self is like coming back to your home sweet home. And because Neptune is activating your domestic turf, you'll want your personal space to feel less like a crash pad and more like your personal sanctuary. If you're not loving what you see, get busy rearranging, redecorating and clearing out stale energy.”

And: “If you actually knew the truth of all the things that are going on outside your world, you would be appalled. You should not take things at their face value today. It is important for you to simply go out and see things for yourself. Do not trust other people's word on what is the truth and what is not. Question what you see, and make sure you don't let others pull the wool over your eyes.”

12/15/14

Nine of Cups reversed/The Hanging Man reversed.  The Nine of Cups (Jupiter, expansiveness and growth, justice, fortune, in Pisces, “I believe,” feelings, duality, suffering, soul growth) is about emotional satisfaction and the ability to find pleasure in feelings and emotions, and in our expectations for the day.  This card is about getting what you wished for, but it reminds us that we need to be detailed in our visualizations if we want to receive exactly what we are wishing for. Because my card is reversed, perhaps all the happiness and commonalities are not working for me.  A bit of diversity makes things more interesting, at least occasionally. This card has a “wait and see” feel about it, or maybe a fatalistic acceptance of what presents itself.  The key to The Hanging Man’s evolution is his ability to see without expectations, and without including the input of his body or his physical world.  But this is not always easy to accomplish.  I love the reversed keywords for the Llewellyn Welsh Hanging Man reversed: not knowing when it is wise to surrender, missing the point of a lesson, martyr to an unworthy cause, and my favorite, blind shoots that do not flower.  All that effort to not expend effort, and all in vane.

My Thoth cards are The Hanging Man reversed (again!) and the Eight of Cups (“Indolence”).  The Thoth Haging Man in an upright postion tells of sacrifice and loss, often done for the benefit of others (sometimes the sacrifice is even forced on us), or of non-action chosen because of fear of a negative outcome.  But not choosing an action is still a choice, and since my card is reversed here too, I won’t feel forced to sacrifice in order to benefit others, and I won’t pause because I’m afraid of what is going to happen.  The Eight of Cups (Saturn, discipline, responsibility, limitation, law and order, in Pisces, “I believe,” feeling, duality, suffering, soul growth) tells of an ending or a decline or a change of direction, often one associated with emotions, and it offers one possible response to that decline or change: moving on.  Sounds like the perfect response to a situation that is forcing me to make sacrifices to benefit others, sacrifices that I don’t want to make: just walk away!

My Legacy card is the Five of Coins, flavored by the Seven of Wands.  The Five of Coins (Mercury, reason, intelligence, education, skill, communication, in Taurus, “I have,” sensual, cautious, stubborn) tells of some loss or need within the physical world.  Sometimes this card can indicate an inability to balance personal issues with professional issues, but because my Five of Coins is reversed, I should find light in unlooked-for places, and any physical-world losses that present themselves just might not be bad at all.  We can’t appreciate the good things unless we experience a few challenges, en? My Five of Coins is being flavored by the Seven of Wands, which explains a lot.  The Seven of Wands (Mars, action, spontaneity, aggression, drive, in Leo, “I am,” passionate, dramatic, natural leader, egotistical, selfish) in an upright position reminds me that my own judgment is worth relying on, so I should have confidence in that judgment.  This card also reminds me to choose my projects carefully, and then stand by them until the end.  The Legacy Seven of Wands has a personal message to me whether upright or reversed: a test is coming.  Perhaps the way to pass the test is to rise above physical-world discomforts and turn lemons into lemonade.  Lots of sacrifice and surrender happening in my cards today (even though many of those uncomfortable cards are reversed).  Truly, there is much to be learned from experiencing discomfort.

My horoscopes: “Cha-ching! With revolutionary Uranus in a tense square to transformational Pluto in your financial zone, it's time to shake up your moneymaking strategy. It's not in your nature to stick to a budget, but that's the best way to get a handle on how much is coming in and going out. How can you earn more and save more? Think about it, because this is the pathway to reaching your fiscal goals. Just try not to talk about money with others today. Casual conversations could easily escalate into arguments”

And: “Today's planetary configurations indicate that this would be a good moment to get rid of everything that is still holding you back from an impending rebirth. One stumbling block for you may be the impulse that you seem to have to blend with others. Don't forget that you are an individual. This is not something to be overcome, rather it should be celebrated!”

So I just realized that my loooooong Second Saturn Return is finally coming to an end.  When I was born, Saturn was in the sign of Scorpio.  On October 5, 2012, Saturn entered Scorpio for the second time since I was born, heralding my Second Saturn Return.  For many long months, I have been dealing with the growth of the effects of Saturn as that planet approached the anniversary of my birth, as well as the approach of the other planets that had been in my Seventh House along with Saturn on the day I was born (and that would include the Moon, Venus and Mercury, all in Scorpio, and the Sun, of course in Saggitarius, just barely).  This time of that conglomeration of those energies has been intense (as Saturn Returns tend to be), but these past few months everything has been easing.  So, good news that Saturn passes out of Scorpio?  You would think, eh?  But no.  Not necessarily.

You see, my sun sign is Saggitarius, and guess where Saturn is going?  Yep.  Saggitarius.  And Saturn will be there until December 2017!!

Just to add a bit of icing on this troublesome cake, Saturn will go retro in 2015 (from June 14th to September 17th), during which it will dip back into Scorpio.  And then firmly root itself into my sun sign for a loooooong time.  **sigh**

12/14/14

Transparent Oracle Sunday!

14, Time of Day: Midday (South). South is the direction of the midday sun and the peak of power and illumination; this direction is associated with passionate drive and creativity.  Midday is also a time of peak power, the peak of light and illumination for the current day.  This is a time when shadows are small and seeing clearly is easy, but this moment of clarity is not permanent.  Soon enough, the shadows will begin to grow once more.

62, Dream (Within).  Within is the direction of the Self, and thus the cards associated with this direction deal with the ways our Self connects to the world and perceives the world, and the Self.  This direction is mostly abstract, and yet is our bridge to the Universe around us.  Dream is the language of the unconscious mind; our unconscious mind is constantly absorbing and interpreting information, and since Dream has no physical world limits, it can interpret that information without being bound by any limits. Thus we can see the past and the future, and talk to those who are not now (or maybe never were) of the physical world.

54, Guide: Giant (Below).  The direction of Below is not easily associated with spirituality, yet it is a powerful symbol representing the opportunity to create a strong foundation, and to connect to the tools and powers of the Underworld.  Giant corresponds quite a bit with the element of Earth and Earth energies, and is about the stability of the ground below us, and about the huge geological forces that formed our world and even now, changes it.  In most fairy tales, the Giant ends up being a great big bump in the road for the hero of the tale, and without these kinds of challenges, we would never get the chance to be brave or to see if we have courage.

I then stacked my cards and created my mandala.  Giant is the most obvious part of this beautiful mandala, with the brightly lit flames of the Midday Sun shining down upon Giant.  Between these two easily-seen cards is Dream, with its subconscious connection to the self and its intuitive messages.  The peak of power represented by Midday is also an ending of sorts, an ending of growth.  If a strong foundation has been created, and if we have the ability to work with waxing energies and then prepare for when those energies naturally wane, balance can and will be achieved!

12/11/14

Ten of Swords reversed/Page of Cups. The Ten of Swords (the Sun, the inner core of a person or situation, in Gemini, “I think,” curious, sociable, dual, talkative) tells of the perception that interference, powerlessness and restriction will rule the day.  The futility, interference, and mental agony of the previous cards have manifested as a total breakdown of the thinkig process. The traditional image on this one is of a body laying on its stomach, with ten Swords sticking up out of his back, a perfect example of overkill!  My Ten is reversed, and the message is obvious: don’t feel sorry for yourself, and don’t give up! The Page of Cups corresponds to Libra (“we are,” partnerships, balance, cooperation), Scorpio (“I desire,” intensity compulsion, mystery) and Sagittarius (“I seek,” philosophic, adventurous, blundering) and is a card of soft and tender energies and of getting fulfillment through connections to others, and through innocent and simple joys. This Page is Earth of Water, and thus all about feelings and sensations, particularly pleasant feelings and sensations. That kind of optimism and belief that everyone has good intentions might be nice to immerse myself in today.

My Thoth cards are the Ten of Wands reversed and Aeon/Judgement. Another reversed Ten!  The Ten of Wands (Saturn, discipline, responsibility, limitations and resistance, in Sagittarius, “I seek,” philosophic, fun-loving, blundering) in an upright position tells of being taxed to some perceived limit, or of feeling as if we are out of gas at the bottom of a hill.  This card can also tell of a passion that has taken a life of its own and then gotten out of control or taken over.  Without checks and balances to keep things under control, this is what happens! Thankfully it is reversed, and I should be able to modify my methods.  Or maybe even totally reinvent them.  Aeon/Judgement corresponds with Fire (hot/separates and dry/shapes, and spontaneous, impulsive and energetic change), Pluto (power, metamorphosis, cycles of dying and becoming), Shin (fang), and the Path between Malkuth (the physical world of action and physical, outer reality) and Hod (provides analysis and communication) and represents an opportunity to tally up and pay the bill so we can have a fresh start.  Crowley sees it as representing a final step that ends an issue of the past and at the same time brings us forward.  His definition reminds us of the profound relief to be achieved if we truly release that which no longer serves us, and if we balance out what we owe with what we have.

My Legacy card is the King of Wands, flavored by the Page of Coins. The King of Wands (cusp of Cancer, “I feel,” sensitive, nurturing, moody, and Leo, “I am,” passionate, dramatic egotistical) in an upright position is honest and open hearted, and rules his realm through the advantageous use of his creative impulses.  He is admired by all, is able to assert authority without alienating others, and his achievements not only bring him benefits, but also increase the quality of life for those around him.  He reminds me that I do have the skills to make things happen and the Will to direct those skills, and I should trust in those skills, and act with confidence. My King of Wands is being flavored by the Page of Coins. The Page of Coins (Aries, “I want,” assertive, action oriented, Taurus, “I have,” sensual, cautious, stubborn, and Gemini, “I think,” curious, sociable, dual) is down-to-earth and responsible, and a listener and a learner. This Page loves to learn new things and have new experiences, but he also can see the big picture in an optimistic way.  He is reminding me today that much can be accomplished in the physical world, but I needt o be willing to try new things, and I need to accept that I might need to work my way up the ranks in order to achieve my goals.  Together, these cards present some great authority and ability to manifest hard-earned skills, as well as a bit of humbleness and an understanding that I am never done with the learning process.  Nice

My 6-digit date number is 10, the ending of a cycle, which reduces further to 1, the number of potential and position.

My horoscopes: “Grab that passport! Voice your grandest dreams—and then roll the dice, as the Moon in Leo, your adventurous ninth house, forms a supportive trine to communicator Mercury in Sagittarius, your identity-driven first house. Speaking out about your most cherished goals acts like a magical potion, giving you the optimism and confidence needed to take that grand leap, whether a life-changing overseas trip, an entrepreneurial venture or heading back to the Ivory Tower for an advanced degree. Risks are your friend, Sagittarius!”

And: “Climactic events are apt to pop up in your life It is time to condense and solidify your grand schemes and bright ideas in such a way that makes them more practical. Things may be spinning so fast that you aren't quite sure where to jump on. Worry about this later. For now, what you need to do is express your ideas forcefully and succinctly. Doors will open wide.”

12/10/14

Five of Cups reversed/Knight of Wands. Because this card is reversed, I should be able to focus on the good feelings rather than the bad ones.  The Knight of Wands (cusp of Scorpio, “I desire,” intense, controlling, deep, obsessive, and Sagittarius, “I seek,” philosophic, fun-loving, blundering) usually represents a person of passion, courage, enthusiasm and boundless energy; most definitely not background-type efforts.  Often, this Knight is shown riding a proudly prancing horse, and this motion filled with confidence is a good indication of the energy of the card.  My Knight adds passion to my day, but he also warns me that I might see any differences of opinion as as a battle.  My armor will protect me, but I need to ask myself if the end result be worth the fight.

My Thoth cards are The Universe reversed and Art/Temperance. I had these same two cards a week ago, only with opposite positions; interesting. The Universe/World, which corresponds with Earth (cold/binds and dry/shapes, and material, stable and practical energy that is slow to change), Saturn (discipline, responsibility, limitations and resistance), Thav (mark or sign), and the Path between Malkuth (the physical world of action and physical, outer reality) and Yesod (the place where patterns and images emerge that may manifest into the physical world) in an upright position is a card of integration and involvement and understanding, a crystallization of the entire issue at hand.  Crowley sees this one as also telling of opposition or obstinacy.  The completeness of manifestation in this instance is set in stone; while it may also be the catalyst that begins the new cycle, the current cycle cannot be changed.  However, because my card is reversed, the unchangeable cycle can be released.  Perhaps that is all that needs to be done to bring my Universe upright.  Crowley calls the Temperance card “Art.”  Temperance corresponds with Sagittarius (“I seek,” philosophic, adventurous, blundering) Fire (hot/separates and dry/shapes, and spontaneous, impulsive, energetic change), Samekh (the tent post), and the Path between Yesod (the place where patterns and images emerge that may manifest into the physical world of action and outer reality) and Tiphareth (the hub of the creation process where energies harmonize and focus to illuminate and clarify), and presents one version of the concept of balance: balance achieved through knowledge and experience of extremes.  If you split the Major Arcana cards into two horizontal categories, theory and practice, and two vertical categories, active and passive, Temperance falls in the middle of the passive practice cards. You could say that it presents a balanced version of active, outer energy and passive, inner energy, and even if releasing that which cannot be changed does not solve the problem, it will allow the return of this beautiful balance.

My Legacy card is the Ace of Wands reversed, flavored by the Two of Cups reversed. The Ace of Wands (Leo, “I am,” passionate, dramatic, egotistical, Virgo, “I serve,” practical, analytical, sensible, orderly) tells of the initial emanation of enthusiasm or inspiration that could very well energize an entire process or project.  Lots of Fiery energy here, or at least lots of potential for that Fiery energy to manifest.  Upright, this manifestation could likely begin above the physical plane, but the card is reversed.  If the energy is to manifest at all, it might be of the body rather than of passion. My reversed Ace of Wands is being flavored by the reversed Two of Cups.  The Two of Cups (Venus, beauty, allure, relationships, in Cancer, “I feel,” sensitive, family and home oriented, tenacious, moody) in an upright position tells of love and connections, usually having to do with feelings, relationships and commonalities, and a recognition or acknowledgement that a bond is beginning to happen, or is beginning to be restored after forgiveness is offered and received. This card is similar to the Six of Cups, except that its energies usually focus on one other person, rather than the group hinted at by the Six of Cups.  I am uneasy about this card flavoring my reversed Ace; isolation is not comfortable.  The obstacles or blockages presented by these two cards are not devastating, but they can be uncomfortable.  Trouble being creative, and no one to support me or sympathize with me.

My 6-digit date number is 9, the number that tells of the completeness of manifestation or effect.

My horoscopes: “Fill those coffers, Sagittarius. Today, harmonious Venus enters Capricorn, your stability-loving second house, until January 3. Practical matters are primary for the next three weeks. Does your daily routine support your goals for long-term stability? Are your spending habits in keeping with your realistic budget? Do your priorities support your savings plan? Now's the time to make tweaks that can have lasting, tangible results. (Hey, that trip of a lifetime or big-ticket item doesn't materialize by chance.) Your coworkers are keen on cooperating, too. Your new role? Office ambassador.”

And: “You may be asked to make an important decision today. It has come to one of those points where someone draws a line in the sand. They have challenged you to cross it. Do you stay where you are and continue on without that person, or do you join them and support their goals and actions? The conflict today is between your head, which may be telling you one thing, and your gut, which is telling you another. Don't limit your choices to two. There are always compromises that can be made.”

12/8/14

The Tower/The Magician reversed. The Tower (Fire (hot/separates and dry/shapes, and spontaneous, impulsive, energetic change), Mars (action, spontaneity, aggression, drive), Phe (mouth or speech), and the Path between Hod (which provides analysis and communication) and Netzach (which offers the stimulating factors of emotion and inspiration)) is one of the Major Arcana cards that talks of adjustments.  This one tells of a violent or explosive correction in the way things are going that usually happens after more gentle corrections don’t bring the needed result.  The destruction caused by The Tower is actually clearing away the old and expired, so new growth can begin, but it might not be fun to experience.  The Tower also shows us what can happen if we cement ourselves into our beliefs.  I love what Oswald Wirth says about The Tower in his book, Tarot of the Magicians: “[The Tower] . . . is less a temple, a house of God, than a sacred building of a body mistakenly identified with God.”  In the end, I need not fear this adjustment because it is for my higher good.  And if I keep my eyes open, I just might be able to do some minor adjusting on my own, thus lessening the effect of this “reset” even at the 11th hour. The Magician corresponds with Air (hot/separates and wet/adapts, and quick and animated energy which usually presents problems or challenges), Mercury (reason, intelligence, orderliness, communication), Beth (house; builder) and the Path between Binah (female, receptive energy and the origin of form and structure) and Kether (the source, limitless possibility).  The Magician works hard to perfect his abilities, to make use of those abilities in unexpected ways, and to focus and carry through to the end of a task (which is pretty important to him).  This card is personally significant to me, and since he represents the manifestation of tangible knowledge (and the ability to control that manifestation), he is offering me another way of viewing The Horned One and The Emperor, and even my reversed Hierophant.  The skills of The Magician were gifted to me after a particulary harrowing experience, but The Magician showing up reversed tells me that today is not an able-to-work-within-the-physical-world-to-my-own-benefit kind of day, and if I lean on these skills, the adjustment suggested by The Tower just might be a bit violent.

My Thoth cards are the Seven of Wands (“Valor”) and the Two of Wands (“Dominion”) reversed. The Seven of Wands (Mars, action, spontaneity, aggression, drive, in Leo, “I am,” passionate, dramatic, natural leader, egotistical, selfish) in an upright positin reminds me that my own judgment is worth relying on, so I should have confidence in that judgment.  This card also reminds me to choose my projects carefully, and then stand by them until the end, because I just might be experiencing a test of some kind.  And I may not be able to rely on anything but my own courage and fortitude in order to survive. The Two of Wands (Mars, action, spontaneity, aggression, drive, in Aries, “I want,” action oriented, pioneering, assertive, enthusiastic) tells of power, influence and authority, and the implementation of the Will.  When upright, this is a card of action and ownership, personal power and authority; because it is reversed, I need to rely on more than just my own Will when I make choices.  Still, the reversed Two of Wands can also tell of unexpected Aha! Moments, the kind that we can’t control but we can still be awed by.a

My Legacy card is the Nine of Cups, flavored by the Eight of Cups reversed. It is interesting that both The Tower and the Nine of Cups are here in my card throw today.  Again, I am being reminded that I need to be aware of what I’m doing and what effects I’m manifesting.  My Nine of Cups is being flavored by the reversed Eight of Cups. The upright Eight of Cups tells of a reluctance to release and move on, but because it is reversed, I will be able to easily release any emotional baggage and end up feeling happy at the end of the day.  Okay, that bodes well for the end result of my violent adjustment.

My 6-digit date number is 7, the number that tells of the pause that occurs when growth slows and degeneration approaches, usually requiring a choice of some kind.

My horoscopes: “Trip to Bali? An expansive course in metaphysics? A philosophical novel? Chances are you've been considering a wide range of life-changing possibilities since July, when horizon-broadening Jupiter entered Leo, your adventurous ninth house. Today the planet of good fortune turns retrograde in this same opportunity-loving sector of your chart, prompting you to slow down on these plans. Over the next four months, take time to consider which of these glittering avenues will bring you maximum happiness. Liberation—a signature need for your sign—is afoot, but be prudent about how you get there. Cautiously follow that yellow brick road, Sagittarius… and the world becomes your home.”

And: “You might wake up this morning and look at your home and decide it's a total wreck. The desire to spend the day cleaning and sprucing up your house might prove almost obsessive. Do what you have to do, but don't get so caught up in minor little spots and blots that you forget about the greater picture! Whatever you do today, view it within its proper perspective. The world won't end if your house isn't flawlessly clean!”

12/7/14

Transparent Oracle Sunday!

6, Guide: Butterfly (East).  East is the direction of Air, and thus of fresh ideas and new beginnings, knowledge, information and thoughts.  Butterflies are about metamorphosis, and about seeing in all directions at the same time.  Butterflies are strong!  Monarchs, with wings basically the consistency of tissue paper, fly hundreds of miles to the South in the Fall, winter over, and then return Northward.  Butterflies are an interesting combination of potential and sacrifice.

48, Venus (Above). The direction of Above takes us up and out of the four traditional elements of Air, Fire, Water and Earth, and reminds us that we are but a small part of the Cosmos.  Above also reminds us that while the Machinery of the Universe is huge, it does have an effect on each of us, and each of us is an important part of the workings of that Machine.  The planet Venus corresponds with the element of Earth, and it represents all love and relationships and connections.  This also encompasses mothering, nurturing, healing, the pleasing of the senses, and an appreciation for beauty.

57, Grail Hallows: The Sword (Below). The direction of Below is not easily associated with spirituality, yet it is a powerful symbol representing the opportunity to create a strong foundation, and to connect to the tools and powers of the Underworld.  The Grail Hallows present esoteric and hidden knowledge about the elements and the Tarot suit of Swords/Air.  The Sword stands for truth, authority, empowerment, nobility and destiny.  It may only be wielded by one who earns the right, and when this card appears, it tells of a higher calling that when responded to will bring the respondent into their true and destined spiritual power.

I then stacked my cards and created my mandala.  The image on this one seems to emphasize ownership of my own femininity.  The beautiful Butterflies snuggle up against the symbol for Venus, while the planet circles everything, snuggling and protecting.  The Sword slices downward, with the hilt covering the top Butterfly and connecting Venus to all three of the fluttering Butterflies.  I am being shown the power of potential or fertility mixed with sacrifice, and I am being encouraged to own my life, and find beauty in every experience.  There is hidden knowledge to be had, and this hidden knowledge brings the power to transform.
